Mathias: Glad to find right FUE clinic
I just want to tell you about my hair transplants. I really have very much to tell, but decided to shorten the description a bit.
I have never been worried by my hair loss, as so many others seem to have been, probably because my hair had only thinned a bit in the patches at the front, and my hairstyles covered it very well. But I always wanted to have slightly longer hair, but the hair on the sides of my head did not really permit this.
It all started when I was living in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I saw an advertisement for FUT/Strip operations on the television offering extra grafts if you did the operation within a week. I called them that day and was given an appointment for a consultation and operation on the same day. I then transplanted about 600 grafts. I thought this would be enough, but I soon realized that I needed another operation.
I looked up a hair restoration clinic in Stockholm to make it a bit denser. They put in 250 grafts on both sides, which according to them would be enough. But it was still way too thin. I went back and had another 100, then another 50, then 20... The clinic said I could not get much denser hair and if they tried to put the hairs in any denser, then they would not survive. I believed them (I’m no doctor, why wouldn’t I?).
That period was difficult for me because the hair transplants were really thin. It had taken a long time between the operations and all the waiting drove me mad. I had looked better before I did anything at all. Better to have big patches than thin hair, believe me.
But everything changed when I went past a shop one day and saw the placard for an evening tabloid. I think it was the magazine “Expressen.” It was about a guy who got his hair back at the Ilter Clinic. He had the same deep patches as me, but he had over 900 grafts directly and it looked much better than mine. I had 5 or 6 operations with 3 to 6 months waiting between each one and he looked better after just one operation.
I contacted the Ilter Clinic and was helped straight away. Dr. Ilter put in 450 grafts in the patches plus 150 in the scar. He had a better technique than the other clinic, which had used a machine for the cutting as well as for removing the hair follicles from the donor area. I will not say which clinic it was because the Ilter Clinic told me not to do so, but I really feel sorry for anyone who might go there. They will feel as bad as I did. I know it’s not possible to have hair that is as dense as before, but I promise you that with the Ilter Clinic’s method you can have terrifically dense hair if you have a bit of patience. Only now afterward do I understand that I was cheated a bit due to my ignorance, but I am just so glad I found the right clinic in the end.
Everyone at the Ilter Clinic was very kind and helpful. There is no clinic in Sweden right now that can compare to them in either price or commitment, believe me. I have been in contact with them all. One clinic charges extra because it takes so long to do an FUE operation (as if the real FUE price isn’t high enough) plus another extra charge if they are not allowed to shave off the hair in the recipient area.

With a hair transplantation operation scheduled in Stockholm, Sweden on April 20th, he had to find a quick solution for the problem. Not being a person to sit around and wait as airports continued to close all over Europe, he decided to drive to his patient.
The 3.850 km. drive accross Europe took him two and a half days to complete. But he made it to Stockholm on the day of the scheduled operation. If you want to read the whole story of this dash accross Europe, a blog is posted here
