Anna – How I regained my hair with a hair transplant
I got the news that I had a brain tumor in spring 2003. The tumor was removed by surgery and after radiation treatment I lost a large patch of hair on my head permanently. As a woman, this was obviously a source of great pain for me. Having a large bald spot on my scalp nearly destroyed my self-esteem. Before, I never thought I would ever have to use a wig or undergo a hair transplant operation because I always had thick, strong hair. 
Hair transplant - before and after photos
When life became unmanageable because of the way I looked, I started seeking help to remedy my situation. Through the County Council, I came into contact with a wig maker who helped me get a toupee. I could attach it to my own hair with clips since my existing hair was still thick and strong. However, the hair piece was not always comfortable. Sometimes the clips chafed and in summer it felt as if I had donned a plastic bag on my head.
Looking for a better solution with laser
I spent a lot of time looking for a better solution. One of the options I settled on was laser. This is obviously a very popular treatment because it gets written about in the media and of course there are lots of ads for the treatment. I started with one such clinic, and after three months of treatment I started noticing some hair growth.However, the larger part of my scalp was still bald. What is more, the hair that came back was weak and thin. The consultant at the laser clinic told me that I should look into other programs they offered, but I quickly realized that none of them would be any real help, which meant I was going to have to wear hair pieces.
Hair transplant options
The hairpiece I continued wearing did not feel like my real hair, so I decided to look into hair transplant options. It would be my own hair, it would feel natural and it would be a permanent solution. If this worked, it would be the first time I would feel normal since after the operation. After a little research and a lot of reading online, I found the Ilter Clinic, where FUE IM promised to do exactly what I was looking for. The days before the hair transplantation
Now it was decision time. I felt a bit scared because I had to shave off all my hair for the transplant operation. I contacted my old wig-maker to ask if I could have a wig to use after the operation while my hair grew out. They were kind enough to help me and then everything was ready for the operation. I remember being both nervous and expectant in the days before the transplantation.FUE IM treatment
The day started at 7 in the morning. I met with Dr. Ilter and his assistants and they told me in detail what was going to take place during the FUE IM treatment. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that I did not need to stress at all because the procedure was so painless and the operating room so calm. Dr. Ilter started punching the grafts, sorting through them and planning how to place them to achieve maximum results. Thirteen hours, 2,750 grafts, a good breakfast, a good lunch and four films later, the day was over. I felt no pain during the procedure but was relaxed and watched movies.After the procedure I was given mild painkillers for any pain. I was also told that if I had trouble sleeping, I should take some sleeping pills before bedtime. The operation was over and we were all waiting for the results to show.
After my hair transplantation
As you can see from the pictures it took just six months for me to be able to style my hair. Today, I still cannot believe that I can go to a regular hairdresser, be pampered and feel good. Goodbye to clips and adhesives. Now I have my own hair. Frankly, I never thought the results were going to be as good as this. There are no signs that I have had a hair transplant, so I am never self-conscious. Of course, you never regain your natural density on the crown, but still, what a difference! With a hair transplantation operation scheduled in Stockholm, Sweden on April 20th, he had to find a quick solution for the problem. Not being a person to sit around and wait as airports continued to close all over Europe, he decided to drive to his patient.
