Terms of guarantee
The Ilter Clinic guarantees that all our procedures are conducted by a certified doctor and surgical team.
The Ilter Clinic guarantees that:
- At least 80 percent of the transplanted hairs will produce hair so long as the patient does not suffer from pre-existing complications such as scarring following an accident or previous operative procedure or other complications*
In cases where hair is to be transplanted into scar-damaged areas, a 40 to 80 percent survival rate is guaranteed. According to studies, the survival rate in scar tissue is lower than in normal skin.
One must always into account that working with biological tissues is not a mechanical process. Skin varies greatly from person to person, and biological tissues can react in different ways. Therefore, differences between individual cases may occur. And the Ilter Clinic cannot be held accountable for such fluctuations.
- A reconstruction involves esthetic limitations, which are described below.
- If it comes to light that the transplanted hair has not grown as expected within 12 to 18 months after the operation, the Ilter Clinic will provide a further procedure. The guarantee is not valid if the patient has experienced other complications during the healing process that are not related to the hair transplant surgery itself. For example, sunburn, trauma to the head or infections that were caused by the patient not following the aftercare instructions properly. The extent of the guarantee will be decided on a case-by-case basis by Dr Demir Ilter. Travel and other costs incurred as a result of the guarantee will be paid by the client. The guarantee is valid for a period of two years.
- Follow-up of every patient takes place between five and 12 months after the procedure. An evaluation of the operation’s results will be completed by the Ilter Clinic no earlier than 12 months after the procedure.
Should any form of complication arise that is not a direct fault or result of the Ilter Clinic’s actions, no compensation will be offered for cost of care at medical institutions other than the Ilter Clinic. Neither will compensation be paid for additional medical costs, loss of income or physical of psychological suffering.
The Ilter Clinic guarantees that it has the necessary insurance to practice this kind of procedure.
The guarantee’s validity is void if the patient does not pay for the operation under the agreed terms.
Legal action between the patient and the Ilter Clinic will be decided according to Swedish law and settled at the Stockholm Law Courts, regardless if the patient is Swedish or a citizen of another country.
Complications
* Complications that may occur, but are unusual are:
Infections
Risk for serious infections in the operated areas are very small with FUE IM. However, all wounds are susceptible to infection in theory. And as all surgical procedures carry a certain risk for infection, it may occur leading to poorer results.
Thinning of hair, hair entering the resting phase and “Shock loss”
FUE IM does not normally affect the surrounding hair in the recipient area. However, it may occur in some cases. We avoid touching the follicles during the operation, but it may happen. There is also a risk that the hair in the donor area will go into the “resting phase” after the operation.
Reddening of the skin and in-grown hairs
The skin is subjected to a number of incisions in the recipient area. Each incision is then supplied with a graft that is connected to the patient’s blood circulatory system. This causes a degree of redness, which may remain for between a few weeks and a few months depending on the skin’s healing abilities. In a few cases, we have seen a light reddening that has remained for a longer period of time. In-grown hairs and itching may also occur. While unusual, they occasionally occur in people when the head is shaved.
Esthetic limitations
Reconstructive procedures to fix or follow operations by other methods may involve certain limitations. The technical difficulties not only cause skin changes, but even the positioning of new grafts at a natural angle and in the right direction is limited due to earlier grafts.
To date, we have experienced different degrees of scarring in both the donor and recipient areas. We have also seen serious skin changes due to infection, for example, that have negatively affected our attempts to reconstruct with optimal results. We are therefore unable to guarantee the end result in such reconstruction cases.
General information
The number of grafts that can be harvested from the patient’s donor area depends upon density, the amount of hair available and the patients own unique conditions. If there is no scarring following an accident or earlier procedure, the number of grafts will be guaranteed before each operation. Should complications arise, the number of grafts may be lower. Each transplant consists of natural groupings of grafts.
In rare cases, FUE IM may leave diffuse small scars in the donor area. Because everyone has different skin types that react differently to surgery, the Ilter Clinic cannot guarantee that this will not occur. However, this is unusual and only visible when the hair is shaven. If too many grafts are harvested from the donor area, it can give a thinned appearance. However, the Ilter Clinic is aware of this and calculates it in its planning.
During the first four months following the operation, protect your head against strong sunlight with a hat or baseball cap. This is necessary to avoid pigmentation spots. Please note this includes sunbathing in a solarium.
The healing process after the operation takes approximately two weeks.
Eventual questions regarding the quality guarantee should be sent to info@ilterclinic.se or ring 08-756 00 50 Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 16:00.
